In a significant diplomatic gesture, Liberia has reiterated its steadfast support for Morocco's sovereignty over the Sahara region. This declaration was made by Liberian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Sara Beysolow Nyanti, during the third session of the Morocco-Liberia Joint Cooperation Commission held in Laayoune on 17 January 2025.

Minister Nyanti, in her remarks, emphasized Liberia’s consistent and unwavering stance on Morocco’s territorial integrity. She lauded the Moroccan autonomy plan as the most credible and realistic solution to the Sahara dispute, underlining Liberia's endorsement of Morocco's efforts. She also praised the United Nations' ongoing endeavors to achieve a sustainable and pragmatic resolution to the issue.
Highlighting the strong ties between the two nations, Minister Nyanti noted the opening of the Liberian General Consulate in Dakhla in 2020 as a testament to Liberia’s commitment to Morocco's sovereignty. She also recalled Liberia’s active participation in the 2021 Ministerial Conference in Support of the Autonomy Initiative.
Moroccan Foreign Minister Nasser Bourita expressed his gratitude for Liberia's firm support. He underscored the importance of such solidarity in fostering regional stability and development.
This reaffirmation by Liberia marks a significant moment in the enduring diplomatic relationship between the two countries, showcasing a mutual dedication to peace and cooperation.
